    Poland - May 2024

Looking forward to this one! Some much wanted birds (Great Snipe, Tengmalm's Owl, Aquatic Warbler etc...) possible on this trip.

Canada May 2024 trip - Part one Vancouver Island and surrounding area.

I'm going at the beginning of June! Can't wait. Also doing Okanagan, Vancouver area and, weather permitting, a pelagic to Triangle Island. Will post a report on here.

A few target species for UK nr. Hertfordshire in August

Dipper - Dovedale in Staffordshire / Derbyshire is good. Probably about your closest option Arctic Tern - possible on north Norfolk coast at that time of year, maybe Blakeney Point on a seal watching trip. Regular breeding sites more than three hours away. Regular migrant in Hertfordshire...

    Hacienda el Bosque to Pereira

Yes. Leave El Bosque c7.30. But they would know best. However, seems a bit of a waste of a morning so you'd be better travelling in afternoon and doing some birding near Pereira such as at Cauquita reserve. Best contact them directly. I imagine the drivers from Rio Blanco would be cheaper, El...

North East India - Eaglenest, Kaziranga, Nameri, Dirang

Is February too early? Most tours seem to go in April? What is best time of year for this trip?

Colombia - Minca and Tayrona: what to do?

You can get a map in the lodge. I think you are trying to over plan to be honest - it is all quite simple. They'll explain it to you there. If Breiner is unavailable you can try Christian Manrique but he speaks no English.

Colombia - Minca and Tayrona: what to do?

The trail is really pretty. I think you are referring to the road? Along the trail, I saw White-tipped Quetzal, Lined Quail-Dove, Yellow-bellied Chat-Tyrant, Slaty-backed Nightingale Thrush. It's good forest for about 2/3 of it and then a really steep bit in some crappy destroyed habitat up to...

Colombia - Minca and Tayrona: what to do?

Yes, both the road route and trail route are very obvious.

Colombia - Minca and Tayrona: what to do?

I walked up via the trails on the second day. It is very possible. Maybe 2-3 hour walk with birding most the way. Last bit is relatively steep and not particularly birdy. You can then walk down the road, stopping at one of the shabby hostels to buy lunch or water bottles. Can also arrange a...

Colombia - Minca and Tayrona: what to do?

Yes, Silvana can arrange it. You could also probably arrange it all the day before in Minca. We rearranged pick up times with Silvana over WhatsApp. Some basic Spanish is helpful but otherwise it is all pretty simple compared to some countries.

Colombia - Minca and Tayrona: what to do?

El Dorado is much cheaper than it used to be. Since the fire, the parakeet and bush-tyrant are tricky. The warbler is found relatively easily including just above El Dorado.

Colombia - Minca and Tayrona: what to do?

It is lovely with amazing views even if the food is rubbish. Yes, there are lots of trails and feeders which you are allowed to walk independently if you stay there. You will need to arrange a 4x4 taxi from Minca to get there. If you want to see all the specialities, you will also need to...

Colombia - Minca and Tayrona: what to do?

I recommend staying at least one, preferably two nights at El Dorado. Loads of endemics up there and a beautiful place. Surprisingly affordable too. One night is enough in Minca. You can arrange transport with Sylvana Travel. Use Breiner Tarazona if you need a guide. Tayrona is stunning but the...

Colombia - Manizales: What to do?

I agree. I think you could also be at Rio Blanco a bit later than two as it's only an hour to El Bosque. Perhaps stay until four.
