can anyone reccommend a decent thermos flask?

I did the same as someones friend, bought 3 and tried them out. Now this was some years back and the "best" was a stainless steel one from Wilkinsons that had a black elasticated cover around it. Not sure the cover actually did anything. I think the problem is that we want convenience and that...

    Policeman Collected Rare Eggs

Whatever makes you think they will give him as much as 6 months. Strongly suspect he will get told he was a bad boy and not to do it again (whilst on duty). Which since he has retired he cannot.

    General Technical Question

My eyes are about the same, except my right is the weaker at about -4.75. If wearing the glasses when viewing then the glasses take care of the diopter difference. So the bincoulars should be set with the adjustable one at 0. Most of the modern binoculars are fine for use with glasses on having...

    Birdfair Tickets ?

Just been looking at tickets for the Birdfair at Rutland. Says they stop selling Advance Tickets on August 1st owing to the number. However seems I cannot get any now either and it is July 29th. Few days to go until August 1st, at least by the calendars I use. Anyone know why this is? Suspect...

    Bushnell 8x42 H2O or Nikon Action 8x40?

I have the Bushnell H2O roof prism binoculars and find them excellent, 8x42. Bought them from binoculars.com and they were less then $100. Also bought a set of the Bushnell Natureview 8x42 roof prisms at the same time. They are better, but I find the H2O's are smaller and cover everything I...

    Backyard bird of prey kills

There is a family of sparrow hawks somewhere near me that I see quite often. They manage a few birds from my garden. Suppose 6-8 a year that I am aware of, probably several more that I am not around to witness. Usually it is the male after green finches and such like, but 2 weeks back the...

ED Binoculars How low Can they Go ?

I wouldn't write off Chinese optics. In the astronomy field they produce some good equipment and they are getting better. The same will happen in the binocular field. Search for some of the Chinese optic manufacturers and a lot of what they turn out look identical to well established brands...

    Stupid question but.....

I would say that some shops might, but binoculars aren't the normal sales stuff. Also the VAT goes up at the start of the year. Would almost say that if there isn't a bargin out there now then there could be less chance in the new year. Equally I suspect that a lot will advertise a "sale" as...

    Busnell H2O or Powerview 8X42

Have the roof prism 8x42 H2O's and no complaints. Solid in build and reasonably compact. May feel a little heavy as the size is fairly small so all the weight is also compact. As said no complaints, very happy with them, use them a lot.

New Binoculars - Viking or RSPB

Cannot recall but isn't it Viking that make the RSPB binoculars? In effect I suspect they are the same. If not someone will say. And I will apologise to Viking.

First roof prism bins - natureview v nature-trek

I have the Bushnell Nature views that you initially asked about, find them excellent. I have the 8x42's, wouldn't mind a set of 10x42's. Biggest complaint is that the objective covers are appauling. Hope they have changed since I bought mine. Many others said the same, good binoculars, but why...

Is it normal for optics to fog up with age?

Leaving them by the window has probably caused moisture to get in. They will pick up sunlight expand a bit, and then get cold and contract. Is it a window with a radiator underneath? So I would suspect this as a cause. To "fix" is really get say the objectives off, say these as they are often...

Hoping to find a little help.

Yep, forgot about the feet and yards mixture. Suppose that metric measurements avoid having to convert. Must admit that when I did it I was thinking that showing over half of 1000 at 1000 seemed very large and odd. Just didn't bother to engage the rest of the brain. Must learn to read.

Hoping to find a little help.

7x magnification, 25mm diameter objective lens. At a distance of 1000 ft an object of 525 ft wide would fill the view edge to edge in the centre. So 29.4 degrees field of view, or about 30. Personally I would take apart and clean, then reassemble. But am slightly mad.

No idea if the models you state are on this site but they have reviews: http://www.allbinos.com/
