2016 - World Yearlist Record Attempt

Minahassa Masked Owl is quite easy to hear in LL but I've only managed to call it in there once. Plenty of Scaly-br Kingfishers there but they are always tough to see. Rob

2016 - World Yearlist Record Attempt

This male had been present for around 6 weeks Andy, it's the first Philippines record. For its first few weeks there was a male Falcated Duck too, another first. Rob

How many species of owl have you seen

Sorry Alan, my slip using two different names in the posts! The names are very confusing and I think IOC still use Papuan Boobook for Ninox theomacha and Papuan Hawk Owl for this Uroglaux, whereas HBW call the Uroglaux Papuan Boobook! Northern Cassowary still possible, although better chance...

    Canon 400 F4 DO Mark 2 - Reviews?

Has anyone used this lens yet, or seen any online field reviews of it? Looks to be an ideal birding lens and I've been holding off to see how it compares to the new 300 2.8. Any thoughts welcome! Cheers, Rob

    Gurney’s Pitta

Given that they failed to protect the birds that were already in Thailand, I think the idea of reintroducing them would be a ludicrous waste of money. Rob

I have details from my Muli visit a few years ago hidden away in old notebooks, happy to pass on anything useful once I'm back home again. Rob

    Best month to visit Borneo

Any time between March and November is good. June and July can be very dry which makes for uninterrupted birding but some birds, especially ground-dwellers can be quiet then. If I had to pick a favourite month it would be April. Rob

Philippines: Mindanao, Cebu, Bohul, Luzon and Palawan

B & W Trillers don't flock and are quite rare at Subic, could have been Ashy Minivets?
