I have a pair of the Delta 8 x 42 from In-Focus, Waterproof and Nitrogen filled for £259. I am very pleased with them, good value for money.

    College Lake Wildlife Centre

This is a site run by the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust. However it is just in Buckinghamshire on the border with Hertfordshire, don't ask me how that works out! It is near the Tring reservoirs and consists of a large lake, wet meadow and marsh areas. There are also small woods and...

    Ideal Weather

Yesterday I went to a new venue, for me, College Lake in Bulbourne near Tring. I love going to new places especially when they don't disappoint. It's not a large venue but was packed with birds. There is a large lake, wet meadows and marshes, plus adjoining farmland. I saw lots of birds on...

Personally it makes me laugh, I take notes and a field guide, if I can't put a name to a bird it distracts me from the rest of...

    THE RSPB AND DISCONTENT

I believe that we have to have an organisation like the RSPB, let's face it politicians don't listen to the electorate they only respond to pressure groups. However I fully agree that they need a reality check of some kind. Any suggestions ?

What is the best birding book you have read?

Thanks for your welcome, although I have been in the RSPB since '95 I have only recently decided to ' crank it up a gear'! Consequently I have more enthusiasm than knowledge, but having great fun trying to learn.

What is the best birding book you have read?

I don't know about best book, but I have just read Sibley's 'Birding Basics'. Although it features N.American birds the techniques for identification and explanations are first class. Although it does mean I am now going to have to get his 'Guide to Birdlife and Behaviour' !
