    Hi - quick update - the bird is still there, hopping up and down. Just called the RSPB, they said it is likely to be a juvenile that can't really fly yet, best thing to do is just leave it out there, with chopped fruit/nuts/seeds and water until it finds its wings and takes off...

    By the way, the balcony is only about 18 inches wide (and 20 foot long), but enclosed with glass on all four sides up to a height of about three-four feet. So it's like a massive tank. The bird mainly hopped around the canteen when I was coaxing it out, but it did fly a (very short) distance...
