Sandhill Cranes Poking Holes in Screen

It's the type used for the screened enclosure for the pool to keep bugs, leaves and critters out. I assume it is the fiberglass type.

Sandhill Cranes Poking Holes in Screen

Looking for a little help for a friend in Florida. When these Michiganders first moved to FL they were deligted to be visited by Sandhill Cranes in their yard almost daily. There is a pond on the edge of the property that was probably part of the attraction for the cranes, but they have...

    Telesar 7X50 Porros

A friend gave me these binoculars to try and sell, but I can't find any information on them. They once belonged to her father and he passed away over 25 years ago. Has anyone ever heard of them, or are they just one of the millions made through the years? They are approximately 7 1/4 inches...

    Difference between DCF and EX

The Sprtstart DCF is multicoated too. The DCF has fold down rubber eyecups while the EX has the twistup style.

    Difference between DCF and EX

The EX model appears to be what is sold in US as Trailblazer. I don't believe they are phase coated but they are considered to be an all terrain binocular (Nikon's term), waterproof and multicoated.

need help -- iPod keeps on "locking up" when in the field

I had a similar problem with my Ipod Touch. I kind of stumbled onto a cure that works for me, but may not work in your situation. I was using a wallet type case for the Touch that had a magnetic closure. I came to the conclusion that the magnets were the culprit when I decided to remove the...

    Nikon ED50 Mini Review

The best thing I have found about the 50ED is that it goes more places than the larger scope I used to have! The larger one I had before spent a lot of time at home. I just love the little Nikon because it is compact enough to take along with all the other stuff like bins or even a camera. No...

    BirdJam Ipod

If you have an IPhone or Ipod Touch, the eBird Explorer is a good value at $19.99 at the ITunes store. It is basically an electronic field guide with pictures and bird songs. I like it and it was easier to install and use than the Bird Jam.

What is the perfect tripod for an ED50?

I find the 718b just right for an angled ED50. However, they both become useless in a brisk wind on a boardwalk.

    Birding software

You might look into Thayer Birding Sofyware: www.thayerbirding.com www.onlinenaturemall.com/Products2/tbs1887148892.htm I bought it on ebay for $70. You can also download the pictures and calls to an ipod or mp3 player. I have not used the personal list feature so I can't tell you how well it...

Nikon LXL, Promaster ELX or Stokes DLS

If you want fast focus, the LXL fills the bill. However, they are a bit heavy as they are built like the proverbial tank. Some find the rolling ball effect when panning a bit distracting. I don't. I bought mine used on ebay about a year ago and think they are super. Once again you need to...

    Availability of Nikon scope eyepieces?

I was under the impression that they had the same FOV. However, they do not have the adjustable eye cups that the non D/S wide angle has. Not a problem for me as I am an occasional digiscoper and a glasses wearer.

    No-photography birding.

I was into 35mm photography many years ago when in college. This was long before finding birds to be interesting. In the last couple of years I have started collecting the digital equipment to photograph birds. However, most of the time, the bird photography is limited to my back yard...
