Which binocular(s) did you use today?

Took the dog for a walk at the local state park this morning, and brought along the 8x42 Noctivid.

Raptor survey as a work, what kind of bins?

The Meopta Meostar 12x50 HD would be a great choice for that type of work. Excellent center sharpness, superb CA control, plenty of power for spotting very distant raptors, rock solid build, fairly priced (especially on the used market). I think they would check all the boxes.

Finally clicked into place with UVHD Pluses (and still love SLC)

Thank you John. I feel a little silly not having noticed that myself, but it makes me feel a little better knowing it isn't "off"! Zach

Finally clicked into place with UVHD Pluses (and still love SLC)

Very interesting topic. I have binoculars (like my 7x42 UVHD) that have given me flawless, effortless views since the first time I lifted them to my eyes. Others have required a lot of time and effort for me to have things "click" just right. Interestingly enough, with all of my Ultravids the...

    Leica’s design sense…

I would imagine that an 8x32 "BL" must be approaching pocket territory. The 32mm ultravids are tiny, and my 8x42 BL is significantly slimmer than my 7x42 HD.

    Leica’s design sense…

    Here's a nice one for a collector... Serial number 001/100. https://www.ebay.com/itm/285181831926

    Leica view comparison idea...

I haven't tried an HD+ version, but I own a 7x42 Ultravid HD, and an 8x42 Ultravid BL. The BL is a later production, with the same coatings on the lenses and prisms as the HD according to the owner's manuals. The BL is fairly new to me, so I haven't spent enough time to become fully familiar...

    Leica’s design sense…

I agree, I get a sense of joy of ownership from my Leica's that none of my other binoculars give me to the same extent. I sometimes pick them up just to marvel at their design, and build quality. To me, the UV/UVHD/UVHD+ represent the pinnacle of traditional roof-prism binoculars, alongside the...

EDG 7/8/10 x42 still in production?

The 7x42 Ultravid has the same 8.0 degree field as the 7x42 EDG, according to their spec sheets.

Is Leica Ultravid 8x42 BR still a decent bino?

Yes, because the new current model doesn't say Swarovski... I've always thought the green and black armored version was much nicer to look at than its successor with the green "dinosaur skin".

How do you carry your binoculars?

Another vote for the Rick young harness for smaller, lighter binoculars. 50mm and up I carry bandolier style. If I'm beating brush, they're in a marsupial gear chest pack. I would never be caught in the field with lens covers/rain guard. I want to be able to get my subject in view in an instant...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Without a second thought, I would immediately grab my 7x42 UVHD first. They offer the easiest, most relaxed view of any of my binoculars, and they just fit my hands and face perfectly. My 7x42 Zeiss FL has more immediate "wow factor", and may be the "better" binocular... but the Leica is my...

Why are Meopta's so hard to sell?

Dennis, maybe it's because your inbox is full? When I click your name, I don't have the option to "start conversation".
