    Looks like a Mockingbird. Where you are geographically will have a large influence on ID. Dog with you or not if you are in the area of an active nest you are likely to get swooped or at the very least chided by agitated parents. Going to the point of photographing the nest increases the risk...

    Masked Flowerpiercer!

    They are a lovely bird. Having birded in both Cheshire and Colombia I can tell you with certainty which of those two you will hear a Masked Flowerpiercer in, and it ain't Cheshire!

    Brown for sure. The shots with the face rule out striated even at low res, plus they are more olive-brown than grey-brown.
