    Arizona - Day Off

SanAngelo's suggestions are good. The Riparian preserve has the best photo ops as it has convenient access as well as lots of ducks, shorebirds and a few raptors. I know Phx well. If you want to get out of Phx, the Santa Cruz flats is very close (1 hr from south Phx) and remote. It is an...

Covid - effect on bird tourism

I cancelled a summer trip to SE Brazil - wonder what 2021 will bring? What do you think will be the safest countries for travel in summer 2021? I was thinking of doing something in Europe, but given the recent numbers not sure Europe is any better than S. America or N. America.

    Brazil bird sounds wanted

Planning a trip to Brazil and am looking for Peter Boesman's collection or something similar. Unfortunately it is out of print. I can download from xeno-canto, but that is quite tedious. Any other options?

    Colombia trip 2020

I was in Jardin in July 2017. It is a nice touristy town. I hired a mototaxi for $20 to Ventanas (50 min trip) arriving at 0545 and walked back to town (downhill) arriving back about noon. The parrots are best seen at the top of the hill past the reserve. You get the same birds in the...

Looks like Common Goldeneye to me. Agree with fugi that the sheen color is very dependent on the angle.

Mystery neotropical raptor - Huila, Colombia

This smaller raptor was seen July 27 2018 near a river at elevation of 1500 meters in Huila 1.7201319,-76.1193323. My local guide ID was Sharp-shinned Hawk. I am familiar with this species as I live in US, and I suspected that this is actually Double-toothed Kite, based on lack of rufous...
