    Hawk Identification

Hawks are beautiful birds. We have several here and they keep the voles worried all the time. My wife keeps chickens but the hawks have never tried to kill any of them. They usually hunt far away from our yard and return in the evening to roost. Someone said hawks don't hunt where they...

    Big Bird

@ johnny721 and jaco We know what we call them. Most likely, we don't name them correctly since we don't see hawks often. I was looking for different opinions on what type of hawk the picture represents. Sorry I troubled you folks. please forgive me.

    Big Bird

B (:Sure is! This one is a female. She and her two brothers are inhabiting a tall pine tree in our front yard. They've been here about 2 months now, and are helping to 'cure' our Vole problem. Magnificent Birds!

    Big Bird

Here's a really bad picture, but does anyone know what this is? I think the US members from the South will have the best chance of knowing. We have a nest of three in our front yard. hint: these birds are carnivores and will attack, kill, and eat small animals. :eek!:

When is a Crow a Crow, and a Carrion Crow a Crow

A farmer was planting a field. A crow landed on a nearby fence and said - "C'awn"? The farmer looked at the crow and replied - "Nope. Beans." The crow said "Awww" and flew off. ;)

    Ship assistance and rare birds

I think they are all referring to the migration of birds and animals around the world. Humans have put laws into place to stop this activity, but the birds and animals ignore these laws and 'use' human transportation systems to "go places they've never been". "first, we kill all the lawyers...

Grass cut on the day Barn Owl chicks fledge!

This part of your post is interesting to me since I live and work a small farm here in the US. I too, have some acreage that is mowed for hay 2-3 times a year. When it's growing, it does look a little 'rough', but a hay mower can fix that quickly. I wonder how much the "council" would have to...
