    Thanks, that helps a lot. You're right on the shooting side of things, the marshes are all shot over but season is closed in March I believe and that seems to stop them.

    If it helps the first waders were right out to sea, flying out of the path of the cruise ship, i spent everyday at the bow of the boat seawatching it was awesome. :)

    Thanks people. The second skua did have a more 'pronounced' long tail similar to long tailed skua and showed more white plumage to the eye thant the first skua.

    They were about dunlin size maybe slightly bigger. The guillemot was a pigeon guillemot.

    Dorset birding

    Was down your way on Monday saw some great birds including Dartford Warbler and 2 Nightjar flushed from the same spot all at Studland Heath :) First for me.
