    Field guide for Yucatan

Hello, Hello, which field guide do you recommend for Yucatan peninsula? Van Perlo's "Birds of Mexico and Central America" seems good but unfortunately all the distribution maps are separated from the plates. Are all Yucatan and Cozumel species included in "Peterson Field Guide to Birds of...

    Central Panama - some notes

Hi. Here are some notes from our recent trip to central Panama: Season: until mid December it can be still very rainy. A trip in January would have been better. Panama City: the rush hour starts as early as 6 am. Avoid it. Panama Viejo: the eastern section is closed on Mondays. If you want...

Birding Gamboa - public transport or rental car?

Thank's a lot for all your answers. It seems as if a car was not really necessary for visiting Gamboa. So I have just one last question. Are there taxis/camionetas in Gamboa or is it possible to visit Canopy Tower, Plantation Road and Rainforest Discovery Center by public transports (at dawn)...

Birding Gamboa - public transport or rental car?

Hi. We are going to visit Panama. Gamboa will be our first stop. Is it necessary or useful to have a rental car in Gamboa or can you visit all birding spots (Pipeline road to Canopy Tower Lodge) on foot and by public transports (or by taxi/camioneta) easily? Regards kilianwasmer

    Costa Rica vs. Panama

Thanks a lot for all your resposes so far! Do the avifaunas of CR and Panama differ that much and is there a big overlap between the birds of Panama and Ecuador (as opposed to CR)? Which kind of transport would you recommend in CR and Panama resp. (rental car or public)?

    Birding near Atlanta Airport

Many thanks for all the recommendations. We have been visiting Centennial Olympic park. It is a convenient place for birding on stop-over. Unfortunately when we were there it was quite windy (and chilly) and construction works were in progress so birding was limited.

    Birding near Atlanta Airport

Hi there, we are going to have some spare hours on Atlanta airport during a stop-over. Are there any locations nearby (or easily and quickly reachable by public transports in max. an hour) that you can recommend for some birding? A nice park with bird feeders e.g. would be just fine - no hot...

    Ecuador, Quito: Mockingbird?

Hello. On my first trip to the neotropics on our first morning, today, at Hosteria San Carlos Tababela, Quito area, I heard and saw a bird that I thougt was a Mockingbird. It was one of my first birds of the day. After looking into my field guide it seemed "unlikely" to see a Mockingbird in...
