    Inspiration needed

NE Argentina is easy to walk, and there are many lodges where you can stay and avoid driving or walking too much (for example birding at Iguazú National park involves a lot of walking, and January is quite hot). Corrientes province is flat, and is full of great species at the lodges and Misiones...

    Favoured types of birding trips

I guess everyone has different expectations and ways of enjoying birdwatching. I have travelled to many places and at some point , wish to have a local expert with me, giving me some juicy tips about rare birds and unknown locations, or even about the common ones. I enjoy watching and...

    Favoured types of birding trips

It is possible to do proper research and go on your own to a destination and see "lots" of species, but usually those "lots" will be half of the species that you would see with a local guide, especially in forest environments. You need to know the birds songs, microhabitats and behaviour at that...

    can't-miss spots?

At Iguazú I would recommend the Argentinian side. Much better birding and many lodge options at Iryapú area. Also check lodges like Surucuá, Yacutinga and Karadya (the website now is www.karadya.com.ar). They are located at the best birding area of the Province, around 100 kms away from Iguazú.

    Birding in Argentina in July

Karadya is always great for birding my friend! At 2016 Big Day (ebird, May) we saw 138 species in 24 hs. We hope to break that record this year!

    Birding in Argentina in July

Yes, at the north the amount of birds will be similar, with a little less activity of raptors (raptors start mating at late July, early August), but with the always fascinating presence of mixed flocks. But it will be definitely a lot less people everywhere, especially at places like Iguazu...

    Birding in Argentina in July

July is a cold month in most of the country but the northern provinces, like Misiones, Formosa, etc. Nevertheless, there are some interesting winter migration patterns allowing you to see, for example, patagonian species at Buenos Aires, Andean birds at lower altitude, or some cotingas at...
