Thanks for your input here over the years Paul, and of course at Titchwell. All the best with your new role.

Warham Greens - parking at Garden Drove

This is appalling. Would love to know exactly who is intent on ruining access for everyone else. Selfish pricks. I would have said this won't be the conduct of a local, but recent posts suggest otherwise. Thanks John for alerting the community here. At least we can all be vigilant and aware when...

    Norfolk: other insects

Perhaps we aren't ready for a solely aracnid thread just yet. Up for a Mollusc one though. I will keep an eye out for that guide, those wild guides are smashing. Cheers, Jim.

    Norfolk: other insects

Seems to be Spider season at the moment. Is there a decent guide and/or key? Jim.

First day of Autumn. Icky, Wryneck and Greenish over last 2 days. I gave Caister and Winterton south a bash this morning, Wheatear and Whinchats the prize. Surely more out there. Saw one birder at Caister, but he did not want to chat! Next few days could be good. Cheers, Jim.

    Northumbrian Birding

Cheers DDack. Off to a good start here, saw the Bonapartes today on the way up. Whimbrel, Dunlin, Redshank and distant Arctic and Sandwich Terns here too. The places you mention I'm familiar with, looking forward to hitting these over the coming days. In terms of Butterflies, the above would be...

    Northumbrian Birding

Morning all, Where's best for Wader watching guys? Wife and I staying near Bamburgh for a week from tomorrow. Might even be able to catch up with this Bonapartes Gull, can't believe it's still around. Having visited this part of the world before, we will no doubt take a boat out to The Farnes...

So, in short Mick, there is a debate to be had, heated or cooled! I thank-you for your detailed comments, yourself and Nick. Interesting that in many counties- the majority- Birdtrack and the County Recorders work together. I am not the best at submitting my records full stop, but having...

I sense a heated debate coming up........ I won't share my opinion here at the moment, but am I right in saying that the majority of UK county bird reports source material from Birdtrack? Cheers, Jim.

Rockland Broad was Tern-less at the weekend, and pretty devoid of wildfowl. I had better luck back at home when 2 Crane flew west over my garden in Claxton. Finally on the patch list! House Martin through. Still waiting for things to kick off down on the marshes. 2 Sedge Warbler now in, but...

    Norfolk birding

Almost a debate on here then, re: birds and weather. It must be Spring..... Glad to see Steve and others have caught up with the Penduline Tit, what a tricky bird but well worth it! Quiet south of the Yare but I haven't birded my patch as intensively as I would have liked, bit of real life...

Those Lapland Bunting are looking super! Nice Strumpshaw write up Steve. The Penduline Tit was seen again today, this reserve is surely one of the UKs best sites for this species. Swallow at Church Marsh Surlingham today. Still plenty of Teal hanging on. Siskin regularly visting the garden in...

Very nice Graham! I would keep that site to yourself and keep an eye on it, and an ear. Hopefully they will be breeding in the area. Very few records in the county each year. I thought I had a LEO calling near me recently; turned out to be an Eagle Owl in a cage in someone's garden! Cheers, Jim.

Fascinating stuff David, and well done for putting the time in and asking the question. Jim.

I think they do still show by the feeders, but unsurprisingly Hawfinches don't like people in camo hanging their massive lenses over the gate. I waited for a few of the above to depart the scene, stood back from the gate, and quickly a number of common species returned to the feeding station-...
