    Thanks very much for the info Tony, thanks again David. Tempted to try for the Eagle Owl at Heilloo too. I'll have to persuade my wife and daughter to spend three days shopping and leave me to it... or that Black Woodpeckers are cool. Which you all know they are.

    invasion year for waxwings?

    Sean, manc - re the Waxwings in Guildford. Mate of mine in G'ford left me an excited message saying he'd had 10 in Stoke Park yesterday afternoon. Don't know where exactly, and can't get hold of him, but soon as I do I'll post details - sorry the news didn't get out straight away.

    What is the greatest British rarity in the last 50 years?

    The Kinnordy Bittern definitely. Re the '94 Bluetail - truly emotional to see the wee thing back then, but is it the most devalued mega of all time? Or has someone chartered a plane for a Little Egret and is now slightly regretting it?
