Any "compact scopes" that you like?

My first scope was an Opticron MM3 60 (1st gen) and it became my travel scope. Performance is good enough for its size, very light and it fits easily in my carry on.

Five days birding trip in Extremadura

You can do half day in Trujillo and farms around it, full day for the steppes, probably add half day to Arrocampo, if you go to the hides that are further out and surrounding areas and another half day in Monfrague.

@David55 Do you mind me asking what phone camera is giving you best results? The 1x or the 3x (assume it is either)?

    Phone adapter opinion please

I have been using the Vanguard Universal adapter, and it works very well. Recently I upgraded to the Smartoscope and it is in a different level (also price wise...). Very impressed.

Upgrade 128 RC head or no?

Similar to you, I recently bought a Kowa TSN-88a and a Carbon tripod that weights 1.3k (ST125) with a Sirui va-5 head, which is just over 500g (buttery smooth!)...very happy with the set up. Very lightweight (priority) and when I need extra stabilization I hang my backpack from the tripod hook...

Eyepieces for MM3 GA (non ED)

This was my first scope, paired with an SDLv2 eyepiece. IQ was very decent and it is now my "travelling" scope. I would try to get one of these or an HDF, which people claim its performance is similar. I am also a binocs person (it frustrates me to have to carry the scope and tripod, etc) and...

Digiscoping adapter(s) for Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra ?

Adapters have come a long way, there are some that work very vell and there is no need to go into the +EUR100 i.e. I use the Vanguard PA65.

    Phonescopy with Iphone 13 PRO

I use an app called Auto Clicker that basically "taps" on your phone with a preset frequency i.e. every 2 minutes. That keeps the phone awake.

    Phonescopy with Iphone 13 PRO

Smartoscope has an universal adapter too that should work in any phone...but you need to align it every time, what only takes a few seconds.

Galaxy S Ultra - which camera

Hi all, Question to those with one of these phones...which of the cameras works best for digiscoping? Finding based on my tests below, I am interested in other opinions: 1. Main 1x camera @1x - although it produces some vignetting 2. Main 1x camera @2x 3. 3x Camera @3x 4. Main 1xcamera @3x...

Digiscoping adapter(s) for Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra ?

Phoneskope and Vario can be bought in Europe (even from the UK). Phoneskope has a UK based distributor and Vario can be bought from Germany. The only consideration with glueing a scope ring to a phone case is that you may have to pick one of the cameras of your phone and stick with it (no pun...

Compact Camera Suggestions? Upgrading from Canon PowerShot SX720 HS

Definitely the P1000 is far from being pocketable! :)

Compact Camera Suggestions? Upgrading from Canon PowerShot SX720 HS

They are called compact because of the sensor size.... Anyways, it's semantics...

Compact Camera Suggestions? Upgrading from Canon PowerShot SX720 HS

The only compacts worth considering are the Nikon P950 or the Nikon P1000 (now discontinued).

    Phone adapter opinion please

I had researched that one and it looks good. The max eyepiece size is 52mm though, so it may not work in all brands.
