Adapter for Wingspan Monocular and Moto G6 Phone

Even if not for this combo in particular, can you suggest an adapter that you know works for a cell phone and monocular?

Adapter for Wingspan Monocular and Moto G6 Phone

I got tired of reading all the conflicting reviews at Amazon and the blog articles that don't really tell you anything, so I thought I try asking here. I have a Wingspan monocular with a 40mm diameter eyepiece ("cup" included). I also have a Moto G6 phone (in removable case) that measures...

Birds Feeding Near New London, WI

I was visiting my dad at my sister's house outside of New London, Wisconsin, today. They have 2 feeders in the back yard. While my dad and I were eating lunch, we could see the feeders from the kitchen table. Here's what I saw in a span of about 5 minutes... Red-headed woodpecker Mourning dove...

What's Your Favorite Birding Site in Your State?

Well, shucks. I was hoping for more than 2 states. Maybe there are too many who had to disqualify themselves like I did. :(

Thanks to thrush for asking my question

I was going to reply in the original thread itself, but apparently it was more than 341 days old and didn't let me reply. So... Thanks here to thrush and the others who asked and answered my question last September about whether using a DSLR or cell phone was better for digiscoping. I had read...

What's Your Favorite Birding Site in Your State?

Thanks, Pennsylvania. Hawks are good. (Not that the others are bad.)

What's Your Favorite Birding Site in Your State?

Here's one for those living in the US. If you've visited more than one birding site / patch in the state in which you now live, which one of those is your favorite? Telling us why it's your favorite would be great and telling us how to get there from a nearby city (unless it's within the city...

Celestron NexStar SE Series for Digiscoping?

Thanks, Jaochim. I neglected to mention that, if I had one of the NexStar SEs, I'd be using it for astronomy too. I was just wondering about making it a dual purpose tube. Anyone know (let's use the 5SE, as an example) how close a subject (bird) can be and still be in focus for a decent...

Celestron NexStar SE Series for Digiscoping?

I've searched but haven't found an answer here. Feel free to point me to anything I've missed. Using a Celestron NexStar SE series telescope for taking pictures of birds... Is it possible? Is it advisable? If so, would it work well with any/all of the models - 4SE, 5SE, 6SE, 8SE?

    house wren nesting

I wonder if that means the house wren couldn't find a better place to nest. That is, are nesting spots in your area becoming more rare?

What do feed and how do you feed your Orioles..??

I just learned of the grape jelly tactic this year. A local friend mentioned she had oriole success using the cheap jelly. I've put some out in a plastic bowl on a box feeder after seeing an oriole randomly stop by twice earlier this spring. I'm not out there all the time to watch, but I haven't...

Redwing blackbirds chasing away a red-tailed hawk

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but I was just going to ask about this too. I see red wing blackbirds attacking hawks (red tail, I think, but maybe another type too) all the time in Wisconsin. Does anyone know if it's because the hawk has actually done something to provoke the...

New bird in the backyard in Waukesha

I believe I saw my first Baltimore Oriole in my backyard in Waukesha, WI, today. He looked a little more yellow (rather than orange) compared to what I would have expected, but I'm still pretty sure it was an oriole. He didn't stick around very long. I don't think I had any food that appealed...
