    Canon 20d

That sounds expensive to me . I bought a used 400D for £250 some years ago , in great condition and still use it today . Carry on shopping would be my advice , the right deal will be out there for you . IMHO it is a HUGE mistake to rush a used purchase .

    New 400/5.6????

Nice one Hor (if that is correct use of name?) . Made me feel a lot better about having no more money for photography gear ! :)

    New 400/5.6????

Indeed Roy . I'll just eating the weetabix and pies to keep my strength up , no need for IS ! Well no money for it :P I do think the 400 5.6 is the best glass I will ever own , short of winning the lottery .

    New 400/5.6????

we are only speculating I guess ! The F4 DO is a special I thought , due to the laminated elements (cuts down on weight and size) . Not sure though Like you said , if the new would be F4 or not . Even IS would take the lens out of my reach (price) , and am still glad to have picked one up ...

    New 400/5.6????

If you have the money for the updated version that is ! I am happy I bought a 400 5.6 this year , I imagine a new version will be f4 and £3000 or so .

    T4i Anounced .

I would like the money to be spent on the stills function , not video functions . So same price , better still cam . If I want video , I'll buy a vid cam .

canon set to introduce new 100-400?

Dunno Roy there are some funny changes going on in photography these days . I can imagine some people paying big bucks and passing up on the 300 , with the phrase "So this 300 doesn't zoom out ? urrg that's no good" !

Canon 50d vs Canon 550d (For Birds)

I seem to recall the 60D lacks MFA .

    Canon's first mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera - the EOS-M

They become an oxymoron when a large lens is fitted IMHO .

    Canon 550D and Canon 400mm 5.6 L Combo - Image Quality

I use a 550d and 400mm 5.6 combo . No problems with focus accuracy on the whole , and sharpness is great (even wide open) . I agree with Roy , this looks to be a case of not enough pixels on target in the first place .

    Touch up paint.

Doesn't the camera have an alloy body ? If that's the case it may need etch priming . I'd have a look at a car accessory shop , they do those little pens of touch up paint. That stuff will dry quick and be durable . Either way make sure you stay away from the plastics with the paint !

    Canon 7d v2 firmware

That's pretty much how I do it Roy ! Don't use auto ISO though , I'm a bit scared of it going over the not so magic 1600 on 550d ! Can be a pain though in changeable conditions , like juggling 4 plates at once ! I need more practice , hardly got out this year so far :(

    new camera

I haven't put the 400mm on the 400d , it was "locked" to the front of my 550d from when I got it . If I get the chance I will swap over and take some shots for you and mail them . My friend has a 450D , would it be better if you could see shots from that body with 400mm lens ? If I get a...

    new camera

I have no problem with the weight . It's light for it's size , and the extra length and diameter gives extra space for the hands to hold . It comes with a lens collar for tripod mounting , so again no problem with weight . I am average in size by the way (6 foot tall 14 stone) , so I am not a...

    Resolution Chart

For those of us that test things and make comparisons , a chart can help to level the playing field . I know that true testing is nigh impossible for mere mortals ..... focus accuracy , focus shift etc ... but here is a chart you can print and use for free ...
