    Thorpeness

Many thanks for your replies. I'm likely to be working in the area for another 4 or 5 weeks. So much to explore. I have already heard but not seen a Dartford Warbler. Where I am working a sparrowhawk flies through a couple of times a day through the gardens with bird feeders. A large flock of of...

    Norfolk birding

I discovered Mickle Mere by accident after driving past and seeing the vast number of birds - then discovered the hide - and then saw my first Glossy Ibis. Another virtually undiscvered hidden gem is Boughton Fen near Stoke Ferry.

How did your Peterborough birding go? Did you see any flocks of Redkites that Peterborough is well known for?

    Norfolk birding

Driving past RSPB Lakenheath Fens - about 30+ Little Egrets in a pool seen from a bridge (B1112) over the River Little Ouse - never seen so many egrets together in one place before. On the Norfolk side.

Saw the pair of Glossy Ibis feeding at Mickle Mear this evening. Many thanks to the fellow birder who let me view them through his scope.

    Cardinal in Essex

Not my picture but taken from a Facebook page - a Cardinal photographed in Stanford-le-Hope Essex. An aviary escapee?

    Cambridgeshire Birding

I was on Haddon Road, PE7 3TN/New Road just before it runs along the A1M - looked like someone had put food down at the back of some industrial buildings.

    Cambridgeshire Birding

Watched a flock of over 30 RedKites feeding just off the A1 in Peterborough. Most I had seen before were 5. No camera sadly. Would have had some wonderful photos otherwise :(

    Bird call identification

I have various tit species in and around my garden but it doesn't sound like any Great Tit call or song that I have heard - this is why it sounds so unusual. Currently going through sound files. Will have to try and record it next time I hear it. It could be that I am so expecting to see...

    Bird call identification

From rainy Norfolk. For the last few days I have had a bird near me calling but it stops whenever I get near and try as I might I can't find it. I know I have heard the call before and I'm sure I have seen the bird but can't remember what bird it is. The call is 3 notes in quick succession...
