    Blue Bird nesting

    Only the female will build the nest. But the male should hang around the box protecting it and feeding her. Females are lighter blue, the male is darker blue with more orange on his chest

    The female bluebird in our yard took about 6 days to finish her nest. She would work on it periodically, then not show up for hours on end (sometimes a full day depending on rainy/stormy weather). She also didn't sleep in the nest at night and stopped working around 7pm most nest building days...

    Bluebird removed both her eggs after 2 days

    We have a camera in our nest box and able to easily monitor our bluebird's activity. She laid an egg on April 13th and another on April 14th.
