    Confused: Swarovski, Zeiss, 8x, 10x

Good choice, Kees. I had a NL Pure 10x42 and after two years I traded it in towards a NL Pure 10x32 at my favourite shop House of Outdoor. Jan gave me a great price. I hated the weight and the little bit less light at dusk is a no brainer. Best choice I made.

Traded my NL 10x42 for a NL 10x32

I had no real trouble with that. Pupil diameter of humans is average about 2 to 3 mm daytime so 3.2 is on the spot but I can imagine that when you have a 42 bin it really doesn't matter as you are always in the good range. If your bin is set up good and both pupils are centered at the exit pupil...

Traded my NL 10x42 for a NL 10x32

Last weekend I traded my NL 10x42 for a NL 10x32 after some days of testing them next to each other. I have my NL 10x42 for 3 years now and I really was satisfied with them, except for the weight and the so called biological skin of the bins. I had no tears but I was getting some lighter wear...

Exploring Sydney - and further afield.

When I visited Australia in October 1991 I had a spot for Lewin's Rail. Back then we depended on trip reports. So I had a spot for a creek somewhere and a little bridge and when you look down you can spot a Lewin's Rail walking on the mud. I was thinking yeah sure, need to be lucky. I arrived...

Poll - Trying to get some numbers on Swarovski rubber armour issues.

My 10x42 NL is about two years old and I can see light wear on the armour already. No cracks yet. No daily use but let's say days in weekends and some birding trips abroad. No DEET ever or other chemicals. For now I watch and see how this evolves. Hopefully Swarovski steps out of this...

    24 Days in Northern Territory 2024 -

For me it is a very long time ago I did the 6 week trip to Australia with my wife. Starting mid October to early December we did 1 week Top end, 1 week Centre and 4 weeks Adelaide to Cairns. 450+ lifers. So I have no recent info on that. We camped in a campervan the whole trip so we slept...

    24 Days in Northern Territory 2024 -

In my opinion 15 days in Kakadu is a lot. There is a lot to see but I think a week will do. That way you have some days at Litchfield and south to Katherine Gorge area. Or think about going more south into desert area which give you more distinct desert species. Maybe you have some good flooded...

    Temminck's Stint with orange legs

Maybe so, but there are more hybrids than we think. Though still rare. F.e. An unusual stint in the Netherlands was initially thought to be that country's first record of the least sandpiper, but showed anomalous features for that species, and was a hybrid between Little stint (Calidris minuta)...

    Temminck's Stint with orange legs

I think it is a Temminck's too. Long winged and jizz of the bird is correct. Could it be a hybrid with a Least Sandpiper? I have heard of Least SP with orangy legs.
