What did you miss in 2020?

Winter 2020/21 missed out visiting the very scenic vista of the Starling murmurations at Brighton Pier UK on a clear day at Sunset. The UK first CV-19 case was at Brighton Feb 2020 and the last time I saw them, on my mothers Birthday for her 80'th.. 5th Feb 2020,

    Prototype STX support rail alternative.

Having looked at the STK/ATX support rail. Could I make something to do the same job? Well my scope is already mounted on a long Area-Swiss plate, but there is definite flex when the TLS APO and Nikon D500 is attached. So decided to try a cork under the bend to see if this stops the flex when...

PhoneSkope very tight on Swarvoski STX65

I'm slightly concerned that the PhoneSkope mount on my stx65 is a mega tight fit. Almost to the point of having tp cause damage to put it on and take off. Previously used one on an Opticron and it wasn't this tight. I also have a TLS APO 43mm for my Nikon D500 and think it gives better photos...

    Phone adapter opinion please

Not impressed by phonescope or the titled one from China - you pays your money and all that. I have an Opti-cron ED80 with a Opti-cron USM2 which just works as a scope adapter. For my binoculars i have snap zoom which is great with my Swarovski 8.5x42 bins. Peter

    Starling photography with a D500

Read elsewhere folk are using 18-50mm and 10-24mm / 24-70mm and 150-500mm as well as just a 50mm. Yes landscape type photos in low light. I don’t think the above are Nikon. But that’s not the aim.

    Starling photography with a D500

I’ve often thought is this the right camera for what I am trying to achieve. I.e. would a Canon or Sony or a full size sensor be better with a fixed F2.8 lens. Life cv is too short to buy and use rubbish Imho. Peter

    Starling photography with a D500

Good point it depends how close. I thought if the lens is top quality after shot cropping would mean less artefacts. Perhaps. Anyway distance has been from 25m to about 400m away. I suppose video would also be used,on the D500. I have a few toys like the Panasonic Fz200 but quality is no where...

    Starling photography with a D500

I'm looking for some advice. I spend weekends watching Starling murmurations. There are some superb photos all over the place. i am looking to take better photos, and want to know peoples opinion on the best lens to use to photograph large flocks of them. They can occur twice a day once as they...
