R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

My wife has an R7 and shoots CRAW with electronic shutter on the H setting (15fps) and I have never seen any rolling shutter on flight shots etc. I have an R6 and whilst pleased in general with it I would have bought the R7 had it been available when I made the jump to mirrorless. Dennis

7Dmk1 plus canon 100-400 focus issue?

Hi Dave, My wife had a similar issue a couple of years ago with the same combo. I eventually sent it to Colchester Camera Repair Service and they sorted the issue. I'm afraid I can't remember the exact part that needed replacement but I think the repair cost around £120. Its performed perfectly...

    Help with 7d please

Hi Mick, This sounds very similar to a problem my wife had with her 7D/100-400 combo. She found that it would focus if zoomed beween 100mm to approx 350mm ish but above this it would fail to lock focus about 70% of the time. The lens had worked perfectly for around 3 years previously...

    Canon 100-400 mm f/4.5-5.6IS vs. 300mm f/4 IS

Hi, I have the 300 + 1.4x and my wife has the 100-400. I chose the 300 as I did not like the trombone zoom, whilst my wife likes the convenience of a zoom. Both are good lenses and I see very little, if any difference. The 300 is a great butterfly lens - and both are a little short (IMHO) for...

    DigitalRev or Kerso

Another vote for Ian Kerr - superb service and a really nice guy to do business with. He will certainly be my first stop for any future purchases. I would also deal with him direct rather than use his ebay shop as he does offer further discounts. cheers dennis

Another vote from Ian Kerr - excellent service. If you don't want to use ebay you can mail him direct on [email protected]. I have recently bought a 100-400mm from him and a 580EX last year - superb service (and prices!) on both occasions. dennis

    Safari conditions and Canon equipment

Hi Rhod, I've done a few Safari's, the latest "all digital" this September. I can't say I've had any really bad experience with dust and I was changing lenses quite often (i was using a 300 F4LUIS/1.4x/100mm & 17-40). I did try and keep the camera covered as much as possible and kept it in a...

ID of Kenyan Snake and Lizard

thanks for the reply Pete. I had come to the same conclusion about the Skink - looked at a few pictures on the net and they look very similar. The thing that initially threw me was the "stumpy" tail of the one I saw - but I guess something had a bite of it and its in the process of regrowing...

ID of Kenyan Snake and Lizard

Looks like you were posting your reply as I was writing mine Lee! So I wasn't in danger after all (don't know whether to be relieved or disappointed now - no more ".....and there I was just inches from certain death - pass me another beer..." stories). The wife will be happier though |=)|...

ID of Kenyan Snake and Lizard

Thanks for the replies Joern and Steve. I thought the "lizard" was probably a skink - but wasn't quite sure. As for the snake - a Boomslang is just as scary as a mamba to me!!!!! can't believe I was daft enough to get so close (within 1 metre at one point) to a poisonous snake. I (rather...

ID of Kenyan Snake and Lizard

Hi All, Could anybody please ID the Snake and Lizard in the attached images. Both pictures were taken on a recent holiday on the Masai Mara. The masai chap who pointed out the snake to me said it was a Green Mamba - but then confused me by insisting it was "harmless" - certainly not my...
