    Sandwell Valley

No luck with the smew on Swan Pool after a two hour search midday. Kingfisher, Goosander and Goldeneye being the pick there. Male Siskin along the cycle track to a frozen forge mill, where 3 Little Egrets and a flyby drake Goosander and sprawk were had with a squealing Water Rail. Beautiful male...

    Bartley reservoir

Common Sandpiper along the western shoreline viewed from the Dam this Morning (5th). Flushed by a pair of Magpies before settling in the vicinity of the picnic area. I've had a couple of wintering birds here in the past, so this could be doing the same. Little else besides the Waxwing's at...

Woodgate Valley CP & Quinton Meadows

2 Little Egret's along the Bourne. Seemed to have taken flight from the Walkway on the other side of Northfield Road, flying very low west along the the route of the Brook between Northfield Road and West Boulevard. Not seen to land but may be anywhere along that stretch or the Valley.

    White-rumped Sand? Frampton.

Just checking through images taken Sunday from Frampton RSPB, and this little beaut popped out! Similar size to Dunlin which it loosely associated with, but that supercilium is quite marked especially to the rear. Grey winter plumage seems to be coming through, especially on head and mantle...

    Bartley reservoir

Had a quick scan this evening. Frigging boats putting anything settled up, but managed two Yellow-legged gulls (Juv/1st winter + Adult), 3 GG Grebes through or more likely put up, and best of all were Two early(?) Goldeneye through. No hoped for Scoters or Terns! Noted a Juv BHG with its...

    Dowles Brook, Wyre Forest

Short afternoon stroll. Very quiet, with few birds singing making it a little hard finding birds amongst the leaf cover. A pair of Pied Fly's were eventually found, several Wood Warblers and a Garden Warbler amongst the more commoner fair.

    Tawny Owl - Bournville

St. Peters churchyard, Harborne is THE place to see and hear them. At least 2 pairs breed around there every year. I've got breeding owls near to me and just a stones throw from St Peters. Bred for at least the last 3 years. In fact, the whole Harborne/Bournville area is good for them. Illey...
