Inner Marsh farm or Marshside Marsh for Bird Photography

If anyone is wondering about the photographic opportunities around Marshside here's a few photographs I've taken in the last week or so .

    Willow Warbler ?

We don't normally have Warblers in our garden , so I was surprised to see this today . Can you tell me if it's a Willow Warbler ?

Martin Mere, Mere Sands and around the area

The Juvenile Cuckoo is still showing well from the Ron Barker hide at Martin Mere . It's been there for nearly a week now and is showing no sign of moving on . It's quite flighty and has been moving about from post to post . While I was there it was sitting in a distant bush , then flew onto a...

    My Highland garden

Hi Marcus , I'll be up your way from Sunday . Do you know if there's much activity around the beaches at Chanonry and Alturlie at the moment ?

Martin Mere, Mere Sands and around the area

Cheers Jaff , as with most things it was luck . When we arrived the Little Stint was up one of the channels in the distance but feeding along the waters edge . Then a herd of cows arrived and gradually drove all the birds towards the hide ( what a result ! ) .

Martin Mere, Mere Sands and around the area

No reports of the Pectoral Sandpiper at Martin Mere today . Weather was horrendous in the morning so only went as far as Marshside . Lo and behold , the sun came out and so did the birds . A family of Gadwalls outside the Sandgrounder hide , then a Ruff appeared , then 3 Common Sandpipers , a...

    Lancashire Birding

This could trundle on , so my final words on this matter are - My photographs show the bird on the fence of a working skipyard ( with vehicles moving in and out all day long , so an unlikely place for a nest ) . A local ranger who works at the skipyard is quoted as saying " given the high...

    Lancashire Birding

Don't see a problem myself since the bird's disappeared , I haven't given the location of a nest and nobody even knows if they've bred in the area .

    Lancashire Birding

Juvenile Black Redstart was around the Ainsdale Discovery Centre prior to the Southport Air Show but I imagine the Red Arrows were the final straw and I don't think it's been seen since . It's had a few people wondering where it came from and the possibility that Black Redstarts may have bred in...

    My Highland garden

It's quite difficult sometimes where birds are concerned...while you want them to breed successfully when they're on your property you have to contend with the resulting mess . Luckily you don't have any classic cars parked in your garage ( or do you ? )

    My Highland garden

Delighted to hear that your move has proved so fruitful for you Marcus . It gets a bit obsessive putting more feeders and perches out to get better photos doesn't it ? ( I should Know ! ) . I don't think my wife would let me set up any hides , though I do have good views from our side window ...

    Seaforth NR

Hi Andy, The link below takes you to the blurb on the Peel site about the proposals & the consultation. There is a link on that page to the consultation / comments form but if you look at it you can see how the questions have been phrased in such a way that you could find yourself supporting...

    Seaforth NR

It's outrageous that Peel Ports are trying to steamroller through their plan for Seaforth NNR . They probably see the nature reserve as a millstone around their neck that doesn't generate any money . The questionaire that you can fill in regarding the proposals is produced in such a way that if...
