    AZ rattlesnake ID

A good guide for herps is the Peterson Filed Guide to Western Reptiles and Amphibians, by Robert C. Stebbins. There's an eastern guide by Roger Conant. Congrats on the rattler, BT's are the most common one in the forested parts of the Chiricauhuas, and are certainly beautiful, but I'd take a...

    Young Birder

Well I had a fairly medicore trip to SE NM, some average shorebirds and an early Northern Waterthrush. I got one lifer: Mountain Plover, however it was only an hour from my house. I attempted digiscoping for the first time, and was able to produce probably the crappiest picture of a Mountain...

Coast to Coast. And the birds between!

Congrats, you got about seven birds I don't have on that trip.

I agree, but it's annoying when I check the thread thinking I'm getting to see a post about birding (or at least something that's interesting) and instead seeing a one-line post that could have been a PM. I haven't been out much lately, I got in one owling trip to look for Flammulated Owls, but...

I commented on your reptile ID's but I think everyone missed it. The Whiptail is actually a Western (Great Basin is the subspecies) Whiptail Not too much birding lately, I've got a 3-day hardcore birding trip to SE AZ planned for labor day weekend, which should be awesome.

Yeah but your checklist sucks. They should breed there in decent numbers.

You slacker. lol I wake up at 06:00 every morning for work. Congrats on the WWPE they're one of the most common flycatchers in the area. Keep your eyes peeled for the Empids: Dusky, Hammond's and Cordilleran.

lol I know what you mean. Neil's only like 15 species behind me, plus he just moved to CA. If he gets in one good pleagic I'm finished!

lol I won't take that bet. I'm back from backpacking/camping near Durango. All in all we walked about 50 miles (I was carrying a 40 lb pack the whole time). I got about 70 species, which will hopefully put my CO list over 100 species. The best bird was Brown-capped Rosy-Finch. I've seen lots...

    Three lizards from Arizona

I agree with the ID's except for the Whiptail. I'm very sure that it's a Western Whiptail Aspidoscelis tigris. Nice finds.

Bird Points Game Version 2.0 - ABA Life List Edition!

0 for me as well. However I decided to enter my Mexico list under category "B" and came up with 59. Some of the common Baja pelagic birds helped me out (Wedge-rumped Storm-Petrel=5, Blue-footed Booby=4, etc.)

I got back from Arizona yesterday, we had a pretty awesome trip. Our species total was about 127, not bad for mid-July. The trip got off to a good start with a life herp (Green Toad) near Rodeo. We camped in the Chiricahuas and headed for Paradise Junction the next morning. Almost right after...

Bird Points Game Yearlist 07 Version!

That was another good round for me, I added almost 1000 points. Bringing my score to 7020.

Bird Points Game Version 2.0 - ABA Life List Edition!

58 points so far for me. Nothing above level 2, except Eurasian Wigeon. Larry, I think it's probably easier to leave the level 6 birds than edit them out. Realistically the only species that is a 6 and someone could have is Condor (I think).

Bird Points Game Yearlist 07 Version!

Any chance I can join? I went back and added up my score I didn't cheat I promise (unless you count poor math) o:D I'm of course in category "C" and I have 6100 points so far this year. Like BF I did well with all the warblers. Edit: someone with more time than me should do this for the ABA. It...
