Your thoughts on competitive birders and birding

Hello, Let me start by saying that first I hope this is the right forum for this, if not mods please move this to the appropriate place. I have been a birder since I was 12 and I am now in my mid thirties. I have noticed that from the west coast to the east coast of the united states that...

Vortex Skyline 80 20-60x Zoom eyepiece replacement

Just want to throw in a mini review on this scope. The image is bright and clear all the way up to 40x One drawback to this scope and a reason why I may return it, is that the focusing is stiff, extremely slow and awkward! Love the cordura case that came with it, very nice touch!

Vortex Skyline 80 20-60x Zoom eyepiece replacement

Hello everyone (mostly you lovely Brits)! Just wondering if there is an Astronomical replacement zoom for this model scope? I know the Astronomical eyepieces are 10x better usually then the stock/standard issue eyepiece. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

    Sketching birds from life

Hello, I can draw really well from reference (Photographs/still subjects). However I really struggle with moving birds. I know I should be drawing from life and from memory. Is it possible to learn this or should I just realize that I am not a true artist? My biggest problem is freezing a pose...

    Canon 300 f2.8 on a 40D.

I thought the IS on the 300 f/2.8 was the new 4 stop IS? I think if your after sharp images you would be better off going with the 400 f/5.6. There was a guru who compared all of the 400mm options out there including the 300 f2.8 + 1.4x tc and it clearly favored the 400 f/5.6. However there is...

1D mk II vs 1dn mkII

Not enough to justify the exagerated price tag of the N. As I understand it, a better lcd (larger and more pixels), auto modes, better frame buffer, displays iso setting in viewfinder (worthless imho since in order to adjust this setting you have to push two buttons at the same time and remove...
