Somewhat tame mallard ducks...will they migrate

My bad...Jos...I was on my iPhone without my glasses. On a larger screen and see my error. Sorry about that. I am assuming they were tame/captive possibly...I just don't know for certain. Other than the lady across the lake had a pen...and a kiddy pool for the ducks when they were small...

Somewhat tame mallard ducks...will they migrate

Thanks Joe! The pen where the neighbor had them penned up is getting high with grass. So I doubt she pens them up at night any longer...I've seen them fly in with other mallards to only run up our hill for food. Leaving the group at the lake. Was curious if they stuck around this winter if...

Somewhat tame mallard ducks...will they migrate

Sometime in July I had three mallard ducks show up. One actually was pecking at my French doors! So I put food out for them and gave them fresh water. Later found out that the neighbor across the lake had them since they were ducklings. They found my waterfall out back and had a blast...

    Hummingbird with speckles...in NE Ohio

Went and did google image search...it looks so much like a female Calliope! Thank you so much!!! The first photo of the two at the feeder...the bird looked like the one hovering over the other. Imagine that! I assumed juvenile red breasted...but no...no photos looked like what I had seen...

    Hummingbird with speckles...in NE Ohio

I had to tak a second glance...as it perched to drink from my feeder. Never seen one marked like that... Reminded me a bit of the female red breasted...top coloring sort of...under belly and up toward chest...speckled a dark color. Nothing in my Sibley for Eastrn North America birds...guess...

Wanting to give a hummingbird feeder as a gift...suggestion ones as to a good one

They arrived and I must say...I am in love with how easy they are to fill! Tomorrow after errands...I plan on chilling and seeing if any notice the two I put out front hanging from the trellis. (Had opening to hang bird houses from) I've noticed a few...around the gazebo without the feeders...so...

Wanting to give a hummingbird feeder as a gift...suggestion ones as to a good one

I think of how difficult it is to fill the pretty one and clean that I have. With not having feeders in Honduras the novelty alone is a neat gift. So Droll it will be. :O) plus insects won't contaminate the nectar.

Wanting to give a hummingbird feeder as a gift...suggestion ones as to a good one

My husband says the pretty one would look nicer as a gift. (But they have a lot of insects in Honduras)

The Droll Yankee easy to clean...and keeps insects from the nectar.

Wanting to give a hummingbird feeder as a gift...suggestion ones as to a good one

So the saucer looking ones? I had one but it broke. Liked it had a clear view of all the hummers. I was going to go with Droll...but seen negative reviews of it not sitting level. Hm-mmmm maybe I'll go with Droll Yankee's feeder for hummers then. Though I did see a few like the photo of...

Wanting to give a hummingbird feeder as a gift...suggestion ones as to a good one

I have taken down the Parasol feed because it kept attracting bees. And they seemed to find it when I moved it. The other brand which I am unsure of the name...leaked. Then I got the one I have now...no leaks...and so far no bee issues. Going on the second year of using it. (Photo attached)...

Bad year for nyjer/thistle? Or just an old stock problem?

I have not paid attention to the color...but have lack of interest at my feeder this year...when I was typically forever refilling it. I purchased another bag of feed from another store...it's been up for awhile and I have noticed a few goldfinch coming back. But not in the droves as they once...
