    Birders and shooting

My Birding patch borders the Ashcombe estate, over the next few months there will be constant shooting for game birds. This does have some advantage because it pushes other birds over the patch. The area is flooded with Pheasant at the moment ,every road and track around the estate is teaming...

    Birders and shooting

Interesting thread on twitter. Can birders also enjoy shooting. Lots of people claiming to do both. I enjoy clay shooting when I have had the chance to do it but have never had the urge to shoot anything living. My dad was into his shooting many years ago but that was mainly pigeons. So can a...

Vanguard Endevour HD 82A poor image quality - Alternative eyepiece?

I have the Endevour as a back up scope, spends all its time in the boot of the car. I can get crisp views up to about 50x . Anything over 50x takes patience with the fine focus wheel. The down side of this scope is the field of view. Even at 20x it is quite narrow.I have only used it a hand full...

    Vanguard Endeavor hd 82a experience

I have the Vanguard as a second scope. I have not had any issues with it what so ever. it is pin sharp up to 40x it does get a bit soft after that but even at 60x it still out performs my previous second scope which was a opticron . I don't often go above 40x mag so it does me quite well. The...

    Colour blind

I totally agree with what you say about Bird movement. I have only been out a few times with him and he does have Knack of picking up birds. From tall trees to bushes he can point something out. Ive just given him a Collins guide for when he is out with the camera on his own. Hopefully he will...

    Colour blind

Can somebody who is Colour blind be any good at this Hobby. I work with a person who is colour blind, quite a good wild life photographer and is showing a keen interest in birds. I would never discourage him from chasing after birds every weekend but part of me thinks it wont last because of...

    Meopta scopes

Having done a bit of research on the meopta scope I did come across the rolling effect on the 30-60x eye piece. infact it is constantly mentioned, this has pushed me to think about the 20-70x eyepiece. Problem is finding a stockist . Will try Braces and see if they can help. Thanks for the...

'Dust' Under the front glass - Sigma 17-50 2.8

Stripping the lens down is pretty straight forward, problems arise from dust particles in the air getting into or onto the glass once stripped out. I always strip lenses in the bathroom, seems to be the room with the least dust particles in the air.
