    I tried to put a new washer in to no avail. then I had the brilliant idea of stripping off the rubber coating to see what was underneath, and that is were they stand right now. if someone wants to have them for spare parts they are welcome.

    last resort is a bodge job with a flat washer otherwise thay are in the bin. My Olympus dps 10x50 porro's are as goodas these anyway. thanks.

    Regarding repairs, it's going to cost more than it is worth so a new pair of bins looks like the best option. The damage is the optic under the left eyepiece. where the retaining ring has splintered.

    Sorry i'm late getting back, i have removed the cups completely. Thanks for the tip about replacements i would probably do as you suggested about the swifts.

    Hi. I've just acquired a pair of hilkinson argyle 8x40s. nice pair of glasses but the fold down eyecups are split so I had to removed them. Now i'm after a new set which will probably be difficult

    Just picked up a good pair of swift newport mk11 from the local flea market for £35 pound sterling. they are the best used pair of binos i've seen so far. I did notice there is a screw fitting under the right casing.
