Nikon Fieldscope ED82 Red Dot Mount

Created a Picattiny bracket for my ED82 so you can mount a red dot for astronomy etc. Had great fun using it for help lining up and viewing flying birds of prey. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6481700

Nikon ED82 Fieldscope vs Monarch 82ED with Hyperion Zoom

A few adapters I printed for my Mc eyepieces. Finding they are superb in my Tak astronomy scope. MC2 zoom M32x0.75 thread to T2 thread for use in Monarch with T2 to bayonet adapter. MC2 to 1.25 inch for use in astronomy scopes.

Nikon ED82 Fieldscope vs Monarch 82ED with Hyperion Zoom

Hi I found the image at higher mags on my old Fieldscope ED82 with MC2 25-75 zoom was sharper with more contrast. The Baader zoom was great with good eye relief and a wider fov but I think the Monarch ED82 sample I had was worse than my old Fieldscope ED82 so as an overall package it was not...

Nikon ED82 Fieldscope vs Monarch 82ED with Hyperion Zoom

Returned the Monarch and Baader zoom. Side by side compared, my old ED82 with MC2 25-75 zoom was optically better. Baader zoom had better eye relief but the overall package felt like an optical downgrade. Have to agree that the MC2 zoom is a superb eyepiece. I have 3d printed a M32.5 to 1.25...

    Monarch 82ED, a Perfect Ten

Ordered a Monarch ED82 with Baader zoom. Printed out an adapter for the MC 25-75x zoom as I have found the 75x on my old Fieldscope ED82 great for terrestial and astro viewing when the viewing conditions allow. Nikon have a 30 day trial offer at the mo so I will only keep it if I get a cherry...

Nikon ED82 Fieldscope vs Monarch 82ED with Hyperion Zoom

Hi Thinking of upgrading my ED82 Fieldscope to a Monarch 82ED with Hyperion zoom. Anyone had a direct comparison, how does a good ED82 Fieldscope with 25-75 zoom compare to a good Monarch ED82 with Hyperion zoom? Mainly talking about optical image quality and the fov differences between the...

    ED82 front lens

Is this where the front face of your lens starts? Mine starts here but it looks set further back from all the online pics I've seen online including yours. Thanks

My front lens looks like it is out slightly further like it has a filter in front It's hard to tell from online pics where the lens actually is.

    Nikon ED50, ED82 star tests

Did some star testing on my ED82 and ED50 with a led light and foil with pin hole approx 25m away ED50 tested better with easily visible perfectly round defocused rings inside and outside focus. Pictures show them as oval rings for some reason. ED82 had round defocused rings, inside focus had...

    Fieldscope Eyepiece 20x/30x/38x wide MC

I was thinking of ordering the Bosma 30X as well. The SVbony 20mm 68 degree wide angle eyepiece is working really well so I'll prob stick with that for now. You can get aluminium adapter threads made, I managed to 3d print some adapters, seem to working well so far. Take a look the ED50 thread...

    Fieldscope Eyepiece 20x/30x/38x wide MC

You could try adapting some astronomical eyepieces. Using a Svbony 20mm 68 degree SWA on my ED50 and ED82. Very sharp image and works out as 26.25X on the ED82

Adapting 1.25" Astronomy Eyepieces to the Nikon ED50

Drew a M32x0.75 to M28.5x0.6 adapter and printed in PLA. Works surprisingly well :) I have a few other eyepieces coming that I want to use on my ED82 as well. let me know if you want the file for the SWA eyepieces.
