Large Raptor - Si Phang Nga, Thailand April

I saw this raptor on 16/4/19 at Si Phang Nga, Thailand. In the field it was silhouetted & looked all dark, I got a couple of quick pics but my camera settings were all wrong so couldn't review any detail at the time. After a look in the field guides it was assumed to be a dark morph Changeable...

Thanks for the info and the link :t: The gates open at 8am but have read that the birding outside the gates can be quite good. It seems like a great area with some stunning target species so is definitely a place I would like to get to. Don’t think I will try public transport and my other...

Thailand, Sri Phang Nga day trip April 2019

Thanks, I have seen some site info with maps etc and it looks easy enough. I am not planning on driving, so may need to look at costs for hiring a driver for the day. Did you drive and was your time here worth while? Cheers

Thailand, Sri Phang Nga day trip April 2019

I will be in Thailand in April 2019 on a family holiday and was looking at a 1 day birding trip to Sri Phang Nga NP from Khao Lak with Thailand-Journey, on the 16th or 17th April, but their tour is for a minimum of 2 people. Details of the itinerary can be found...

    Orange "Hen" Harrier. Spurn

Thanks for your comments Brian & Tib. I agree with your comments Brian, without closer views & more detailed pictures it is going to be difficult to come to any other conclusion than probably Hen. Especially turning up on the East coast after a spell of Easterlies. But like you say there is...

    Orange "Hen" Harrier. Spurn

This bird was seen flying north at Spurn on sunday am 21st Sept. It struck me at the time how brightly marked the bird was. With very little streaking on the underparts. It was seen at quite a range but my friends Dave Jackson & Robin Gossage managed to get a few record shots. I thought it...

Tenerife - Buzzard & Red Bishop?

Thanks for your comments Well i must admit i had my thoughts of it being a honey buzzard but as HB is listed as accidental in the Canaries i was playing it safe but thought i would post a pic for confirmation. It was seen on the 26/9/12 over Montana Chayofita near Los Cristianos.

Tenerife - Buzzard & Red Bishop?

Hi, Here is a picture of what i presume is a dark juvenile Common Buzzard taken near Los Cristianos, Tenerife. Also what i presume is a Red Bishop - This is 1 of 2 birds at seen at Amarilla Golf Course - Tenerife Sept 2012. Not sure if anyone knows if the Bishops are escapes or an introduced...

    Tenerife 3rd to 10th August 2012

Good to hear that the La Lajas site has escaped the fires, not sure if the fire has spread towards the Erjos Pools/Santiago del Teide area now. I think i read somewhere that Los Gigantes area has blue-crowned Parakeets
