The birds & wildlife of Gateshead (6 Viewers)

Keep looking.............. I wonder where you are "further up the valley".
I come from Consett.
We have almost 20 breeding sites verified and under surveyance.
We've also just had a report of a kite between Wark and Bellingham - that is good news, if it escapes persecution.

Do have a look at this page on our website: http://www.friendsofredkites.org.uk/page10.htm

Red Kite x3 roosting in tree Muggleswick behind farm 15.04.2013.
P.S. i grew up Moorside near Consett now live near S.Bridge Hosp.

Stuart / June. thanks for the kinds words. My tag is now changed ;)

I love photographing these birds, they are my favourite subject apart from my kids. I am particularly pleased how the perched shot came out as there were branches and twigs all around the bird.

Paul.

June,

Now you mention it, I do see the transmitters. I will check the rest of the photographs I have to see if there are any distinguishing marks. I took many pictures of Red Kites last year without wing tags also.

Paul.

Lost Monopod

Bit of a request from a friend of mine who isn't a member of the forum.
Anyway they were at Far Pasture today 18/06/13 and were in the lane adjacent the wood yard watching the kites and roe deer in adjacent field. However they had parked in the entrance to the wood yard - when the owner turned up. They moved the car and the wood yard owner allowed them to park inside the yard - but when they moved the car they left a Gitzo monopod half way along the lane - completely forgot about it and after a good natter with the wood yard owner drove off leaving the monopod against the fence half way along the lane.

If anyone was in the area today and has found said monopod if you send me a PM with your contact details and i'll pass those on to the owner who will be extremely grateful to get it back..

Thanks in advance
