Whinchat (Saxicola rubetra)

The Whinchat from 2007 that turned up with the Wheatear I posted last week. These two birds (plus a Turtle Dove) were attracted to muck-spreading in the fields that had been carried out due to recent heavy rain. Shame they've never done it since!

Muddy grass field

Private site, Surrey
Date taken
27/4/07
Scientific name
Saxicola rubetra

Canon 20D, 600mm f4
Nice pose and podium. Saw my first winchat of season at Elmley last week, great little birds.
