Stock Dove juvenile (Columba oenas)

Just posting this as an accompaniment to the adult I posted last week, and also because it seems to be a rarely-photographed plumage. I can't say I'd ever noticed one until I started photographing them. Pretty, isn't it?

Open grass/mud

Private site, Surrey
Date taken
10/6/07
Scientific name
Columba oenas
Equipment used
Canon 20D, 600mm f4
Wow! Not one of my bird books displays the juvenile plumage of the Stock Dove! So I never even knew this existed until I came across your photo, impressive!
