Handsome little red head hanging in the frigid winter air. I have a 3 month old Labrador retriever, so potty breaks are frequent. Easy solution to the constant work from home interruptions, keep the camera near the back door and hope for test subjects each time you go out.
This is just an early shot in a likely long series of lens testing for the ol' 400 DO. Not great lighting, with a strong side/back lit winter sun. Shooting between the branches of a dense, mature forsythia in the backyard. This was a heavy crop, 1/5th of the original image. Tone/color adjustments and unsharp mask done in ON1. Kinda shocked the details held up considering the crop. Also, I'm a little impressed with how nicely the branches faded, considering how busy the background is. The DO definitely imparts a unique business to the bokeh, but it's noticeably better than the 150-500 Sigma, and at least as good as the 300 F4 with a 1.4x TC attached.
