Hispid Cotton Rat
Hispid Cotton Rat (Sigmodon hispidus: Cricetidae) Total length including tail ranges from 20.2-34.0 cm (8.0-13.4 in) long. Their tail makes up 36-43% of its total length.
Habitat
South Texas Plains vegetation area, Lower Rio Grande Valley, adjacent to the Rio Grande, Tamaulipan thornscrub riparian with native wildflower and shrub planting to attract butterflies and birds at ca. 43 m (140 ft) elevation.
Location
National Butterfly Center, Mission, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA.
