Heartleaf Rosemallow
Heartleaf Rosemallow (Hibiscus martianus: Malvaceae) This native perennial of Texas and Mexico grows in hot arid conditions and attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. It grows 0.3-0.9 m (1-3 ft) tall; its flowers are 2.5-7.6 cm (1.0-3.0) in diameter.
Habitat
South Texas Plains vegetation area, Lower Rio grande Valley, adjacent to Arroyo Colorado, Tamaulipan scrub (reclaimed land from an old dump site) at 6 m (20 ft) elevation.
Location
Hugh Ramsey Nature Park, Harlingen, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA.
