I will be staying over for a couple of days at Sterkfontein Dam on my way to Drakensberg Sun. Does anyone know if it is worth a trip to the Golden Gate Highlands Nat`l Park, as it is only about a 45 minute drive.

It is definitely worth it. The tall sandstone cliffs and general scenery is beautiful. I am sure you will get to see a few good bird species too.
