    Pretty sure I saw the same bird early Thursday afternoon from the West hide not long after the Electricity helicopter put everything up. Looked to be the same distinctive angle of the forehead, all dark eye, same bill pattern. Also seen briefly by Jared. Mike

    Down and Out in Upton Warren Popped down to the Flashes for an hour this afternoon. On the upside a merlin was down there on a post at the back of the Flashes for a few minutes but on the downside when I got to the hide it was inhabited by a tramp...

    Didn't see it but then again... it was pretty dark and I have to admit I was concentrating on the gulls. The avocets were all still there.

Was tricky getting a good view of it as it was hiding in the hawthorn but had the right kind of slaty grey head.
