    Confession time. Ann immediately called it "Harrier" when she saw it first, and she's sticking to that, although she's not convinced it was Hen Harrier. I thought it was too bulky in the body and the wings too broad, for Hen Harrier, and thought Goshawk. The rare alternative, but probably...

    Well I'm blowed, you live and learn. We've seen hundreds of ring tailed Hen Harriers, two as recently as last week, ID has been no problem, up until now. I'm not a betting person, but I'd have bet good money on it not being a Hen Harrier: this one had no jizz of Hen Harrier at all!

    What Raptor is This Please? We were out in the New Forest yesterday, and saw this Buzzard sized Raptor, we reckon to ID most of the birds we see, and we both ID'd this one, and were confident until we got home and saw the pictures, now we have a difference of opinion. Can someone take a look...

    We were also at Keyhaven/Pennington this morning, The Spoonbill had just moved from the outfall to Oxey Lagoon just before we arrived. We caught up with it just before it flew back towards the outfall. A Slavonian Grebe was close in off the outfall, and a Long-tailed Duck flew west. We also...
