Presumably the same flock(s) that was roosting at Marazion. For some reason they decided to go elsewhere and the message got round pretty quickly!

While driving past Hayle Estuary late this afternoon we noticed flocks of Starlings going to roost, I believe around the Garden Centre. I understand there are now large numbers roosting there and wondered if it was the same birds that were roosting at Marazion Marsh towards the end of last year...

Red Deer More info on Red Deer! Since I saw them I have spoken to my neighbour who also saw them some months ago by the lighthouse. He saw them in particularly bad light conditions and assumed they were Roe Deer (his views were distant and brief). He has since found out that a local deer...

    Cornwall Birding

An evening trip to Kenidjack Valley yesterday resulted in a reeling Grasshopper Warbler across the bridge from the last house, but perhaps a rarer sight was two female Red Deer climbing out of the valley and onto the golf course. Apparently, they have been around for a couple of months. Did...

That will be a no you don't have any information then! To a non-birder who may be familiar with Buzzards and Kestrels, a bird of prey which is bigger than a Buzzard could be considered huge (the quote was "a big-ass bird"). Thanks for your help Peter F-S, they were present for at least three days.

Some non-birder's from Botallack told me about two large birds of prey frequenting a field half-a-mile west of Botallack. Huge birds with chestnut coloured backs, sounds like Red Kites. Has anyone any info on these? They have apparently been present for several days.

Nice one Dave. You seem to have the same criteria for your garden list as I do. Was it using your air-space? I've managed a few nice ticks since I moved to Tehidy Park and decided to include the communal grounds in my garden list :eek!:

Thanks Paul :t: Fancy me finding a bird :eek!: The joke was that just before seeing it I was talking to a chap walking his dog who said he thought he'd seen a Swift. I said "Nah, bit early for Swifts, mate" :-O

Ash, Man Utd v Liverpool had just kicked off when I arrived, that was 1:30pm. Then I suppose it took me half-an-hour to stroll down to the Eastern end and I was there for ten to fifteen minutes before the bird flew over, so 2:10 to 2:15pm say! Heading east over Marazion, although it seemed to...

Went to Marazion Marsh hoping the Red-rumped Swallow was still there. It wasn't, but a very good substitute came along in the shape of an Alpine Swift. I was at the new viewing area at the east end of the reserve when it came flying down the Red River valley and right over my head, giving...

Small flock of Bramblings in the wild flower meadow between Otter Bridge, Tehidy Country Park and Tehidy Park (old hospital grounds).

Whatever 8-P They weren't there on Monday, so I don't feel so bad;) No birding today, but a Black Redstart on my neighbours doorstep this morning. Simon mentioned Long-tailed Tits on his blog. I had 16 on my feeders this morning, with six at once on one of the fat balls, great sight!

Same thing at Marazion today :eek!: Redwing, Fieldfare, Rock, Meadow and Water Pipit, Turnstone, Knot, Wagtails etc. Also, Slavonian Grebe x 2, Black-necked Grebe, Red-throated Diver, Great Northern Diver x 2 all in Mounts Bay. This morning I travelled to Helston Loe Pool hoping for the...

Sorry Simon, just re-read your post. Sounds like they are between the little stream with the concrete bridge across it and the pool. Yes?

What a pair of wimps we are Ash :cat: It was hard enough getting in and out of Tehidy Park yesterday so this extra snow hasn't helped. I'm hoping those Helston birds hang around, because I'm not venturing out today. The snooker's on, the room is warm and the beer cold. Cheers B (: So Simon...

Hundreds of Redwing and Fieldfare in and around Tehidy Country Park. Also a huge flock of Finches in the fields alongside the country park ranger's entrance by North Cliffs. Unfortunately, the sun was right behind them so id was difficult. All those that came close were Chaffinches, but I...

    Cornwall Birding

How different can two days be? Sunday wet and miserable, today cold, but bright and sunny. I started at Crows-an-Wra and realised why I had missed the Richard's Pipit pre-Christmas. I was looking in the wrong field :eek!: Thanks to the information about the "mud on the road" sign and the fact...

Both birds mentioned on BirdGuides Simon. I saw the Nanquidno shrike on Monday, but not until the sun warmed things up a bit and the insects came out. I scoured the field first thing and saw nothing but Robins, but a second walk round at about 10am found it sitting on brambles that I had...

Thanks Simon. This Marazion bird has a lighter line on its head, I wouldn't call it a patch.

    Cornwall Birding

Good afternoon all! I can’t believe that nothing of interest has happened in Cornwall since the 27th September. In fact, going back several weeks, apart from the prob Brown Shrike and BB Albatross, megas of course, bird sightings have hardly been mentioned. Lot’s of future pelagics and personal...

Thanks Cuckoo-shrike, (are you Simon Taylor?). I do read Simon's blog from time to time and am very impressed with the work he is doing at Stithian's, it's one of my favourite venues. The bird feeders certainly do their job in the southern cut-off hide, always worth popping in. But why no...

Just read Birdguides review of last week and was surprised to learn of a Golden Eagle seen over Stithian's on the 19th. No mention here. What's it all about?
