Product Review: The Sky Rover Banner Cloud 8 x 42 Binocular

NOTE: the following makes no claim to be a scientifically reliable finding (I have been using my own eyes;)), nor is the result in any practical way relevant for birding or any other activity during which you engage a binocular. Like many others, I have said before, and say it here again, that...

Product Review: The Sky Rover Banner Cloud 8 x 42 Binocular

Well, my first sample has oil droplets on an internal glass surface and optically still „beats“ most of the glasses in my bino collection with high image brightness and excellent sharpness / contrast. I just wonder how much better my second sample - which the Singapore shop I am buying from is...

Product Review: The Sky Rover Banner Cloud 8 x 42 Binocular

I use a tripod with precision degree scale, then mount the bino horizontally, focus at infinity, look through the objectives, rotate the binos so that I can see a narrow, distinct and well defined object at no less than 100m distance wander across the entire field of view, keeping the object at...

Product Review: The Sky Rover Banner Cloud 8 x 42 Binocular

Ignatius (post #32), I usually only use it for binos with a body shape that doesn’t t fit well on the Berlebach (e.g., Swaro Visio or EL Range ). I clearly prefer the Berlebach, or then the usual adapters which screw into the hole at the front of the hinge.

I measured the specifications of the Sky Rover for those interested, see here: https://binocular.ch/sky-rover-8x42-apo/ Impressive specs, despite some differences from the "official" specs of KUO. Canip

Product Review: The Sky Rover Banner Cloud 8 x 42 Binocular

I will have to do much more detailed comparisions with top end European binos (including EL / SV / SF) to confirm this, but yes, so far, based on my cursory examination of the Sky Rover, I consider its optics equal, meaning that the correction of aberrations, control of stray-light, color...

Product Review: The Sky Rover Banner Cloud 8 x 42 Binocular

Build quality, if mechanics work :), is certainly competitive in the class $ 500 and above. Finish (body armour, joins, gaps etc.) is good, the focus wheel is nicely finished, the eyecups with clickstops are not perfect but work well. I have already talked about focus and diopter, but that was...
