    Friends went to Stille Ruess / Flachsee without me... Saw some 50 species and the stars included Hobby, Cuckoo, Great Reed Warbler, and 2 Little Bitterns... It's difficult to be in two places at once ( photos Jon Apted)

    Leuk is excellent for short toed Eagles, Bearded Vultures, Pygmy Owls, Rufus Rock Thrush, Cirl and Rock Buntings, etc..one of my favourite places. Even had a Nightjar there once. Leukerfeld near by has Bee eaters and Nightingales. Scops Owls in nearby Fynwood!

    Bird of the day...Common Rosefinch. Seen in Nuolener Ried and Montreux. All the way from the Himalayas...best places for me are in Uri..Zumdorf or Hospental

    My best places for Rock Partridges are in the Wallis…Above Leuk ( up from the Radar Station), and Arolla along river bed towards the glacier, opposite the water pumping station, and last in Graubunden above Vals. If you need further info I try to send maps.

    A great day out in Klingnauersee with friends. Some 70 species seen or heard including Black tailed Godwit, Common Terns, Golden Orioles, Cuckoos, Pintail, Black Kites, Little Bitterns, Reed Warblers etc etc. Just leaving when a Hobby swept passed us chasing dragonflies. Weather was fine… Just...

    Some nice birds reported despite the wet weather: Little Terns at FR, VD Rollers at TI Slender Billed Gulls at VD Short toed Eagle at BE Hopefully weather better tomorrow.

    Bird of the day….Icterine Warbler. The squeeky toy bird..what a song. Of course I dipped on the one seen recently at Sempachsee. Seen also in Solothun and Zurich regions

    Breaking news! Common Rosefinch reported at Zumdorf! Fresh from Indian Himalayas..Hopefully here for some weeks. Lesser Grey Shrike also seen at Leuk.

    Lol..I know..need them on my Swiss list! The Ballions Crake is still there! Other gems seen include Red Knot at Hagneckdelta Collard Flycatcher at Salavaux Black Vulture at Nendaz (my photos from Mallorca) Montagus Harrier in several places including Riehen in Basel Land!

    Wtf ..the rain stopped..sun came out and heated up! Visited nice site at Mohlin and Augst. Nothing really special..many Red and Black Kites, House Martins, Swallows, Swifts, Common Buzzards, Cuckoos, Yellow hammers, and Kingfishers. No sign of Golden Orioles, Honey Buzzards or Red Backed Shrikes...

    Wtf..tropical storm in Basel area..stuck in Cafe. Some 30 species seen or heard included 30 red kites, 4 Black Kites, 3 Common Buzzards, 5 Kestrels before the deluge... Still waiting for rain to stop to go for red back Shrikes and Golden Orioles. Blue skies at 10.00...Dark Monsoon at 14.00

    Wtf..weather was great ..some 20C and Sunny. A trip to Klingnauersee to look for Caspian Tern and Spoonbill...yes..I dipped! But some 60 species seen or heard including some nice birds...Black Tailed Godwit, Wood Sandpiper, Common Tern, Mediterranean Gull, Cuckoos, Little Ringed Plover...
