Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

So the Habicht 10x40 didn't work for you and I get that. Very nice binoculars, but it has its restrictions for being purely for bird watching. The SFL 10x40 would have been nice, but the eyecups are too wide for your liking? I have the NL Pure 10x32 and really like it, althought it is a bit...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Have you ever considered the CL companion 8x30 or 10x30? They have quite narrow eyecups. If you like the CL 8x25 you might like the CL 8x30 or 10x30 too.

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I have a wife to keep happy as well. That's why I have the 4th and the 5th. ;)

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I actually gave myself some "limits" which helps me deciding which binoculars I'd like to have and to limit the amount of binoculars. My limits: Weight ≤ 1 kg Exit pupil ≥ 3 mm Magnification ≤ 12x and ≥ 7x Amount of good binoculars in possession ≤ 5 (very cheap and binoculars not counted) I...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Is said to myself, enough is enough. 😉 And I have drawn the line at < 1 kg and both are or will be heavier. Not really a temptation for me.

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Well, I like having different types of binoculars. Since I have the NL 10x32 already I like to add an EL as well. I like the bigger exit pupil, so a bit more suitable for low light. I like watching boar, deer, etc. in twilight. Mostly in open fields far away. The SLC 8x42 is a bit limited with...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Having said that. 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose? At the moment: NL 10x32 and EL 12x50.

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

This (my quote) actually is the answer to that question. This is also my line up at the moment: CL 7x21, SLC 8x42, NL 10x32 and EL 12x50. Together with the scope ATC 17-40x56. I also have the trinovid 8x20, but I think I will sell it because I have the CL 7x21 now. My first thought was: one...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I don't think that is true. The AFOV of the SF 10x32 is larger than the AFOV of NL 8x32. The NL 8x32 doesn't really shine with is AFOV compared with all the other NL's.

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Why not the other way around? So NL 10x32 and SF 8x32. FOV NL 10x32 > FOV SF 10x32 and FOV SF 8x32 > FOV NL 8x32. Or did it just happen to be this way?

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

The swarovski scope ATC 17-40x56. Having just one: NL 10x32 Having two: NL 10x32 + SLC 8x42 Having three: NL 10x32 + SLC 8x42 + Curio 7x21 Having four: add the EL 12x50 All 4 powers and all needs (for me) covered. And of course a scope. No need for a bigger one.

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I suppose the Habicht 7x42 is the brightest? Also at daylight? Which of the 5 has the most 3D view?

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

EL 12x50 NL 10x32 SLC 8x42 Habicht 8x30 Trinovid 8x20 That's what I have at the moment. My only hesitation is that I am a 10x guy and only have one 10x but threen 8's. So I might swap the SLC 8x42 for the SLC 10x56 or Habicht 10x40 GA one day. Or add the CL 10x25, but than it's 6 instead of 5...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I went for the 8x42 and 10x32 combo. In that combination I have a lighter 10x for birdwatching in daylight (90%) and a larger exit pupil (5.25) for dimlight. However, I was not satisfied and added a 12x50 for longer ranges and also useable in dimlight and a 8x20 as a pocket bin. Still not...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I would go for a 12x50 like the EL or Ultravid, although quite expensive. I like my EL 12x50 and can hold it steady enough. I think a 15x56 is less allround.

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

You can see the difference in size here. This is the SLC 8x42. The SLC 10x42 is even a bit shorter. The SLC 42 is just a bit fatter than the NL 32. The stated weight of the NL 10x32 is 640 g, but for me it is still the question why they state it as 640 g! I measure 675 g, totally stripped except...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Answering my own initial question. At the moment I would choose the EL 12x50 and the NL 10x32. Or EL 12x50 and SLC 10x42. I am not sure which one I like the most: NL 10x32 or SLC 10x42...

    Then pick 5 😉

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I am sorry. I am to blame for it I suppose... I think you are right about 5 or 6 bins. I have told myself that this is the number of binoculars I will allow myself to have. It will cover all my needs/bases. Of course I would like to add a SLC 10x56 or SLC 15x56 too, but I don't think I will...

I will change the title: If you could choose "only" 5 bins... ;)

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

Now I am thinking about following: -EL 12x50 (further reach) -SLC 10x42 (dimmer light) -NL 10x32 (perfect for daytime birding) -Habicht 8x30 (lightweight, porro, beautiful) -Pocket bin (light travelling) Basta :)

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I have a 10x32, a 10x42 and a 10x50. Having both a 10x32 and a 10x50 would make sense. The 10x42 is abundant and can actually replace both. I got the 10x50 and 10x42 both secondhand, but still 3000 euro is a lot of money. That's why I have been thinking selling the 32 and the 50 and get the NL...

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

As originaler poster I asked this question, because I wanted to be done with "just" two pairs of binculars. I thought a 10x32 and a 8x42 would be perfect. Now I think a 10x42 paired with a 8x32 would have been nicer. At the moment I have a 10x32, 10x42 and a 10x50, but can't let go the 10x32...
