    Manfrotto 349C Hide Clamp Centre Column

    I thought both variants came with an inner plastic sleeve that helped with slimmer centre columns and/or carbon fibre systems. Have a look at some images of the 349 as well as the 349c. P

    That's a surprise, did you fit the inner plastic sleeve into the hide clamp - that should take up any amount of slack.
