    New Sigma 150/600

Hard to tell anything Jeff re the test. Would love to see his shots. I can tell you that I shot with a friend who has a d810 and the Nikon 300 2.8 that he shoots with a 2x and 1.4x. The image quality he gets is fantastic and so is his ability to crop. IQ is better than the Canon 7d2 and the...

They look nice and sharp to me. Congrats. As usual the composition is great. :t:

    New Sigma 150/600

We may not agree on many things, but we can agree that you had quite a great vacation and that Gannet shot is off the charts good :t:

    New Sigma 150/600

Credit where credit is due Jeff. They are sharp and beautiful. I love the shot of the Gannet with the flowers. One of the coolest shots I have seen in a long time. Plus it is my kind of close up that I really like where you can really see the bird. Looks like you have the lens tuned much...

    New Sigma 150/600

I think those shots look great. :t: And would love to get those at the breeding grounds. We need to go a long ways off to get them. Over a 10 hour drive.

    New Sigma 150/600

I agree that the lens is not focusing on the subjects. They all seem just slightly out of focus. I bet with a small adjustment you will be spot on. I sure am happy that I did not need to make any adjustments with my C. Looking forward to more shots...

    New Sigma 150/600

I would refrain from doing any adjustments until you can shoot in the proper conditions. Hope your luck changes.

    New Sigma 150/600

I don't think that you can possibly learn anything about a lens when taking shots of a small bird at long distances. Maybe others who know more about testing lenses can chime in, but I woudl think that you would be far better off going to a local duck pond and shooting birds that are much...

    New Sigma 150/600

Seems to me that there is a remarkable amount of work that needs to be done with this lens. I wonder why so many have struggled so much with it. Yet it seems that the C has had much better results. Many more people just attach it and get good and sharp shots. Unless you need the weather...

    New Sigma 150/600

Think that is pretty far from all that happened and does not explain for instance the better shots that you got on the 1d3 after setting to dynamic os and focus priority. But no point in rehashing things. We wouldn't want to let the facts get in the way now would we? We will have to agree to...

    New Sigma 150/600

I was just restating it and yes you said it. And no more fighting. It does no good. Just was trying to make a point. There have been an awful lot of posts about needing to micro adjust and improve shots and struggling to get lens performing better. Wonder why that would be needed if there was...

    New Sigma 150/600

Totally agree Roy. But surely the longer focal lengths at higher magnifications (on crop sensors even more so) are where this lens is most used and that is where the shots suffer from motion blur (as well as atmospheric conditions and other things) the most. This is especially so in less than...

    New Sigma 150/600

So after all of this time we have gotten back to what I said from the very beginning. The shots, especially with crop sensors (more magnification) are suffering from motion blur because the lens is too heavy to hand hold for most. Sure did take the long way around to get to the same...

    New Sigma 150/600

It is the stud that breaks. But for me you can't be too safe. These lenses are heavy, and when attached to a camera even heavier. I just like the extra protection. What I have is very similar and does that exact same thing as the other option posted.

    New Sigma 150/600

only thing I would add to that is that if the loop that the strap goes through breaks then how are you protected? You have the loop going from carabiner to loop but that does not ensure help (unless I am missing it) if that loop breaks. That is why I just went with the straps from camera to...

    New Sigma 150/600

Hopefully I will be able to describe this. There is the carabiner part and at the top of that there is a little piece that connects the carabiner to the loop that the actual strap is through. That is the piece that breaks. The little attachment piece. That is the piece that is holding all of...

    New Sigma 150/600

Jeff. Black Rapid is a great company. Their straps are a huge help. But that is a lot of weight for the strap to hold. It is a lot of weight bouncing around when you walk. Make sure you get a back up support in case the strap gives out. I know 3 people who have had their Black Rapid strap...

    New Sigma 150/600

I think the bottom line is that the only way to find out for sure is to buy both yourself and check the results. To me the Sigma C is a nice step up from the Tamron. The S I am sure is as well, but as I have said and gotten in trouble for many times here, I think it is too heavy for most/all...

And these were handheld or on a tripod? Big crops or no?

    New Sigma 150/600

I'd love to see some shots with the sport on a 7d2 to see how the new sensors work with it. Anyone do comparisons of the same shot off of and on a tripod to see which is sharper? I have been very pleasantly surprised at how good the Contemporary is and I l think that we should be seeing even...

    New Sigma 150/600

At 840mm it is really impressive. Totally agree. Still with monopod right?
  22. hosesbroadbill

    New Sigma 150/600

What does that have to do with the performance of the Sigma sport? And what does my abilities to use a Tamron (a lens that many here have openly bad mouthed and called not sharp) or any other lens for that matter, have to do with results with a Sigma either? How about making a relevant post...

    New Sigma 150/600

For once a valid response. I will happily explain my reasoning. I ordered quite some time ago from a local shop, not a giant like B&H or Adorama or Amazon. You save the tax by ordering from an out of state vendor. Would save me about $200. Problem was that I did not realize that they had a...

    New Sigma 150/600

So I get it. If I am not agreeing with you then I have nothing nice to say. Makes sense. Isn't there some facebook page or other place that you guys can go and just tell each other how great your shots are? There are plenty of people out there, me included and many of the lurkers who chime...

    New Sigma 150/600

"For what it is worth, I got the call yesterday from my local camera store that they had the Sigma sport in stock for me and I passed on the opportunity to buy it. Don't think there is enough compelling reason to do so at this point. Best of luck to those of you who have or are waiting for this...
