    We are lucky to have quite a few overwintering warblers in the county due to our climate.     Sorry for the initial confusion chaps. We were on the Scillies when the news came out and confused ourselves with the pager message when we tweeted the news. At least you got the news on the day rather than at 1030pm when all Waxwings were asleep!!

    Gannet was my first thought too. Although there was a BB Albatross reported in the channel I wouldn't describe BB Albatross as dull coloured in any plumage? The channel bird was seen 30 miles south of Portland Bill on 30th June.

    Thats a good sized flock. Probably all are Lapwings although Golden Plover do often associate with flocks of Lapwings. Blackcaps can be extremely aggressive especially where food is concerned but I would be very surprised if one took on the beak of a GS Woodpecker! Paul Cornwall Birding -...
