    Problem Pipit Hey up folks, i didn't have chance to have a look at the very interesting link that Steve has put us onto, and as The Fair One says it does look worrying, but havin' seen the bird twice in the flesh and taken notes i can't honestly say i see it bein' anything but a Water Pipit...

    Hey up Steve, we did consider littoralis and as you say the mantle, crown and ear coverts are grey but the the grey on the nape and mantle gradually merged into a grey/brown further down its back. I was a bit concerned about the amont of streakin' on the flanks but put that down to the bird not...

    Steady tiger, even colour blind birders can distinguish between dark/pale and grey;) Any way i thought Grey-bellied were a bit of an Irish thing at the moment? Wouldn't that be a P#### if we had one in the Kingdom of Cheesedale. Andy.

    Hey up Steve, it's definitely a dark-bellied i had good views this evening on the way home from work after a lengthy detour on the old slog iron. Perhaps it's the same bird that was at Utch and Hales Hall last year again with Canadas, as mooted by our lover of scottish islands, old Fair Isle? andy.

    More Pinkies 2. Still six Pinkies in fields between the Rivers Dove and Tean this a'noon at Utch. Andy.

    Utch 31/1/10 Two Whoopers(ad' and a juv) flew along the Dove at 1000am headin' west, also the female Scaup as returned from Brookers and a Pinky among the goose flock. Nearby 7Goosander on JCB North Lake. Andy.
