Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Hi Does anyone have any directions for the Longtailed Duck which has been spotted at Chelford? I have looked on Google maps and there appears to be quite a few bodies of water around the area so I was just hoping that someone may have some more precise details? Cheers Tim.

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Popped along to Burton Mere yesterday, was great to see the Water Rail right next to the visitor centre, the warden was kind enough to to throw some seed out to allow us to get some great close views. Also noted around the reserve were Redshank Greenshank Avocet Oystercatcher Golden Plover...

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Popped along to Burton Mere today with Lesley and our little one in her push chair. The Ibis didn't show at first but while we were eating our lunch in the car park it appeared in front of the visitor centre, only to go back into the reeds when we got back there. Did start to head off to North...

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Hi All Headed up to Moore to try my luck at seeing a LSW had no luck in that respect but its a reason to go back. Did see a couple of foxes chasing each other and a rabbit which made for some interesting viewing at the hide near the tip. Saw a gull which I think is a Common Gull but hoping...

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Didn'y mean I have not seen GSW at Moore just the LSW. There meant to be a place closer to where I live that has LSW but when ever I have given the area a good bashing I come away not even seeing any type of woody. :-C So I am hoping that Moore will give me more of a chance in seeing one. Tim.:-C

Purple Mission Hi Went on a bit of a mission today to try and see a Purple Sandpiper up at New Brighton. On the way we called at Inner Marsh as well. Just before Inner Marsh near Puddington we came across a tree covered in Linnets and even a couple of Brambling thrown in for good measure...

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Anyway moving on. This is gonna be a pretty strange request but seeing as how the Wales forums show very little activity and working on the basis that many Cheshire birders will have good local knowledge of North Wales, added to the short time scale, means we'll give it a try. A friend and I are...

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Hi All Spent the day around Burton Marsh and Inner Marsh today with my better half. First off headed for Burton Marsh to try for the Garganey, which was our target bird for the day, as we both need this for our life list. Thanks to a chap down by the marsh we were pointed in the right...

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Hi All Spent a while firstly yesterday at Inner Marsh not too much around but the tide was out so probably most stuff was feeding on the estuary. Didn't help the firing range was really going for it getting everything quite twichy and what birds were around tended to keep taking off and heading...

Thanks for that, I take it they only get there on the really high tides or would a 8m or so tide bring them in. I only ask as I have next week off and that seems as high as the tide will be getting. Cheers Tim.

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Hi Could I ask you if you went over on Hibre just during the high tide or did you allow the tide to come in? I am only asking as Purple Sands would be a lifer for my Wife and me and we have wondered where and when is the best place to see one. Cheers Tim.
